Apostasy on the Rise

2 Timothy chapter 3 speaks about apostasy in the last days. It is a time when several things happen for example:
2men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
Apostasy in Christendom has always been present but God’s Truth has always prevailed. What is the meaning of apostasy? The word comes from the Greek apostasia, meaning a "defecation," "revolt," or "standing away from" It is an open demonstration that someone has deliberately rejected the truth that is contained in the Scriptures.
There's a difference between apostasy and error; an error is when one makes a mistake due to a lack of knowledge or understanding. Errors should be corrected as soon as one gain knowledge of the Truth. It is also different from heresy which is repeating and teaching things that are contrary to the Scriptures. Apostasy, and heresy are snares that the devil has put in place to deceive. Persons who have deliberately rejected God’s Truth are apostates inwardly because they have left the truth but outwardly, they profess to be Christians. Every sinner including apostates will be judged by God.
When many persons think about apostasy and heresies they think about bygone years instead of focusing on our present situation. Don’t waste time looking over the shoulders because today we are living in a world in which apostasy has been normalized.
We have adopted the belief that anyone who calls on the Lord regardless of their spiritual state shall gain entrance into His Kingdom. This is an evil theory that is prevalent, self-satisfying and comforting and will lead many to damnation.
I can hear some now saying we cannot judge people because only God knows their heart. 1 Corinthians 6 verse 3 says, Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? Every follower of righteousness is given the authority to judge using the Scriptures.
I have seen great changes in Christianity during the past fifty plus year. I have seen people turning away from righteousness to a form of righteousness and solid Bible Truth exchanged for that which gives comfort and prestige. Isaiah 28 verse 26 says, for the bed is shorter than a man can stretch himself on it and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it This is the depiction of our present Christianity we have made ourselves comfortable on beds that are shorter than our bodies and use sheets that do not cover us properly. Bed refers to comfort and rest you cannot rest comfortably on a bed that is shorter than you and you cannot rest spiritually comfortable in a form of godliness. The sheet refers to righteousness. When we depart from the truth contained in the Scriptures, we cannot be covered with righteousness.
Why are professing Christians running competition with the world in speech, in attire and in every other aspect of living? Where is the light that ought to be shining brightly from believers? Why is the line between righteousness and unrighteousness so thin? How is it possible for anyone to be sanctified and consecrated to holiness and to God and yet be an active partaker of worldliness? Since when has righteousness and unrighteousness being companions? Isaiah 28 verse 7 says, but they also have erred through wine and through strong drink are out of the way the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink they are swallowed up of wine they are out of the way through strong drink, they erred in vision they stumble in judgment. This is a real definition of what is happening in Christendom today. This is a call for us to amend our ways, repent of our sins, turn from our evil ways and to turn to God.
God is not a charity nor a convenience store where it is we just make requests or pick up what we want and then we do whatever we feel like doing. This is totally unacceptable. If you take the title of Christian, it means that you are living Christ like. Let the world see Christ in you. 2 Corinthians 5 verse 17 tells us that anyone in Christ is a new creature. You put off the old and adopt the new. I am imploring everyone who has the opportunity to shape the thinking of others to be very careful of the seeds which they plant. Jeremiah 23 verse 1, Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the Sheep of my pastor said the Lord. People ought to be led in Truth so that you the Leader can be included in the kingdom of God.
While leadership is important everyone has a responsibility for their salvation, do not depend totally on others, read the Bible, pray and ask the Lord to give you the heart to understand and accept His undiluted word.
YES, I have watched drastic changes happening in Christianity over the past 50 years I have seen sinfulness be called righteousness and when I think about the type of gospel that is being taught to our youngsters today, may God help us if they continue in the paths set before them and become leaders tomorrow. I draw comfort from Matthew 24 verse 22, and except those days be shortened there should no flesh be saved but for the election those days shall be shortened. A word of caution it is not right because it is the popular acceptable standard of society. It is right because it is the acceptable standard of God.
