Psalm 138:2- I will worship toward Thy holy temple, and praise Thy name for Thy lovingkindness and for Thy truth: for Thou hast magnified Thy word above all Thy name.
In the Scriptures God is called by numerous names and we shall be looking at a few.
Salvation is not hinged to the name that we give God; it is hinged to obedience to His word.
God presents Himself to His people in diverse ways; in every situation He displays different attributes.
His people are always secure in His care. Psalm 33:12 says, blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord and the people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance. In Isaiah 65: 24 we learn that when we are obedient to God He answers before we call. What a wonderful, powerful and omnipotent God we serve. It pays to walk dedicatedly in the statutes of righteousness. God told Abraham to walk before Him and be perfect. This command is still vibrating today. When we walk in the fear of the Lord His power will be manifested in our lives. He will magnify Himself and show to us His power and His might. Let us examine some ways in which God presents Himself to man, His creation.
Joshua stated in Joshua 3:10, Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you and that He will not fail to drive out the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Perizzites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Jebusites. Here God shows Himself as El, The Mighty, Strong God. He demonstrated His power against the enemies of Israel and all the unbelieving ones who chose to challenge or disobey Him. Just as He drove out and made extinct those ancient nations there is coming a time when all WHO REJECT HIM SHALL BE OBLITERATED.
God appeared to Abraham as recorded in Genesis 17:1- And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. Here God presents Himself as El Shaddai, God Almighty, The God All Sufficient. It is reassuring to know that we have such a God who is able to take us through our situations. For this reason, Children of God are too blessed to be stressed.
God is our Master, we should subject ourselves to His leadership. He is the Potter; who fashioned us in His image. In Judges 6:15 Gideon recognised and was led by the superiority of God. When he was told by God that he would be the channel through which God would release the Israelites from the Midianites , he asked how could he save Israel knowing that he was counted as the least in his family. Adonia, our God and our Master uses persons others label as insignificant to expound to the world that He lifts and renew. All He desires is obedience just as Gideon demonstrated. Remember 1 Corinthians 1:28: And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are.
Psalm 135:5 states, for I know that the Lord is great and that our Lord is above all gods. The author was convinced that there was no god above our God. What confidence? This confidence can only be found in those who walk in the fear of the Lord. This statement shows God as The Self-Existent or Eternal Jehovah. Our God does not depend on anyone for sustenance but He supplies all our needs. He is so generous that He also provides for those who hates Him. Thus, teaching us the power of forgiveness and that we should love our enemies and do good to those who despitefully use us. God told Abraham that he should offer his son Isaac as a sacrifice. Willing Abraham and obedient Isaac were about to fulfil God’s request when God intervened. Abraham was been tested and he demonstrated to God through his willingness to offer the one designated as his heir. This brings us to God’s love for us and the obedience displayed by Jesus when He subjected Himself to ridicule, torture, humiliation and death at the hands of the sinful humans He had come to redeem. God did not want any human sacrifice He only wanted to test Abraham’s obedience. Having seen his faithfulness, He provided a lamb to be offered instead of Isaac. Overwhelmed Abraham then called our God, Jehovah Jireh. Genesis 22:14.
Psalm 95:7 affirms, For He is our God and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand. Psalm 23: The Lord is my Shepherd I will not want. Yes, He is Jehovah – Rohi, our Shepherd. He is the Good Shepherd; He takes excellent care of His sheep. The sheep rest secure knowing that they are monitored by their Owner and not by a hireling. Yea though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death we shall not fear. All our needs are satisfied. His reassuring voice speaks words of kindness and compassion while He leads us beside still waters.
In Jeremiah 30:17 God promised to heal Israel’s wounds and in Jeremiah 3:22 He promises to heal their backsliding. In exodus 15:22-26 God healed the water at Mara. Truly, He is Jehovah Rophe, the Lord who heals. He does holistic cleansing. That is why Children of God has sound minds, a settled peace and do not hold grudges.
The enemy is always attacking us and we are ill equipped for the battle, however, we should not fear because we have Jehovah - Nissi: The Lord Our Banner. (Exodus 17:15; Psalm 4:6). When we are in the midst of warfare we should hold on in faith and victory shall be ours.
Psalm 7:8, 96:13. tell us that God is our Judge. The same God who is so merciful now will be our Judge and He will not condone sin. Jehovah- M’Kaddesh is The Lord Who Sanctifies He makes us wholesome and set us apart for holiness." The Lord says: Consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am the Lord your God. Keep My decrees and follow them. I am the Lord, who makes you holy. Leviticus 20:7-8.
In this tumulus world it is comforting to have Jehovah Shalom, The Lord Our Peace Judges
6:24- Then Gideon built an altar there unto the Lord, and called it Jehovahshalom: unto this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abiezrites. Shalom means the kind of peace that result from being right with God and our fellow man.

In Ezekiel 48:35 we learn that the Lord is Jehovah – Shammah which means: The Lord is There God is El Elyon; the Most High. Deuteronomy 32:8: When the Most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.
Abir: 'Mighty One', ("to be strong") Deuteronomy 10:17: For the Lord your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward. (Psalm 132:2, 5; Isaiah 1:24, 49:26, 60:1)

Psalm 90:1-3 outlines that God is everlasting. He is El- Olam: the "Everlasting God." It is essential that we rest securely in a higher power.
Tsur: "God our Rock" Deuteronomy 32:18- Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee.
God is referred to as Attiq Yomin (Aramaic): the Ancient of Days, in Daniel 7:9, 13, 22.; and as Melekh: "King" Psalm 29:10 - The Lord sitteth upon the flood; yea, the Lord sitteth King for ever. In Psalm 68:5 - A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in His holy habitation. He is our sustainer, provider and means of survival. Our God is Almighty: He is pantŏkratŏr. Yes, God is absolute, all ruling and the universal sovereign. We are told in 2 Corinthians 6:18 that God will be a Father unto us and we will be His sons and daughters. Isn’t this wonderful?
